Prior to 8 October 2016, deposit protection was governed by the Act on the Bank Guarantee Fund of 14 December 1994.<\/p>\n<p>Polish law fully implements Directive 2014\/49\/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 on deposit guarantee schemes (DGSD).<\/p>\n<p>Our deposit guarantee scheme covers eligible deposits held with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Credit institutions authorised in Poland (i.e., banks with their registered offices in Poland)*<\/li>\n<li>Cooperative savings and credit unions<\/li>\n<li>Branches of non-EU credit institutions operating in Poland**<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key features of Poland&#8217;s deposit protection:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Coverage limit:<\/strong> \u20ac100,000 per depositor, per institution<\/li>\n<li><strong>Repayment period:<\/strong> 7 working days from the date deposits become unavailable<\/li>\n<li><strong>Currencies:<\/strong> All currencies accepted (compensation paid in PLN)<\/li>\n<li><strong>EU compliance:<\/strong>\u00a0Fully harmonised with Directive 2014\/49\/EU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>___<\/p>\n<p>* Except Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (Poland&#8217;s state development bank, exempt from insolvency proceedings) and mortgage banks (which generally do not accept deposits).<br \/>\n** Unless the branch is already covered by an equivalent deposit guarantee scheme in its home country providing at least the same level of coverage as required under EU law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Poland&#8217;s deposit guarantee scheme is established by the Act on the Bank Guarantee Fund, Deposit Guarantee Scheme and Resolution of 10 June 2016.
